About ECDL/ICDL
Why test and certify your knowledge
Testing is often used before the training to allow you to find exactly where your knowledge gaps are, or to allow you to find which level of training is appropriate for you. This allows you to be more focused, to save time, and to get more value from the training.
During training, testing and test questions are often used as part of the learning process, e.g. in the form of exercise questions that allows you to use, repeat and reflect on the substance you are going through. You may also use tests during training to allow you to verify whether you have reached your knowledge objectives or not, and if you are ready for e.g. and examination or certification test.
After training, knowledge tests are often used as part of examinations and certifications. The tests may take the form of a pen-and-paper examination test, of a supervised practical exercise, or of an online test using a computer in a supervised test centre.
By completing a Certification, you are able to prove your knowledge for yourself, your employer and when applying for future jobs. A recognized certification thereby increases your value for employers.
What are different types of tests used for?
There are many different types of knowledge tests that can be accessed using EnlightKS. The different types of tests are good for different purposes. A few examples:
Diagnostic tests
Diagnostic tests give you detailed information on your knowledge profile, often split into separate knowledge categories. They are often used before training or before examination, to help you identify your knowledge gaps effectively.
Certification and examination tests
Certification and examination tests are used to verify that you have reached the specific knowledge objectives of a course or of a Certification Programme. Certification tests are often delivered in a supervised test centre. Certification tests often only provide Pass or Fail results.
Exercise tests
Exercise tests are used within training programmes. The test questions are often mixed with the training material itself.
Demo tests
Demo tests are used to show what an online test looks like, to allow you to familiarize yourself with online testing. Demo tests will not give you any useful results regarding your knowledge levels.
EnlightKS Performer test items
EnlightKS Performer test items are a particular type of online test questions, that allow you to use Office real applications when answering test questions. They require that the Office applications are installed on your local computer, and may have other specific requirements regarding your Web browser.
EnlightKS QuickCheck tests
EnlightKS QuickCheck tests are short tests used before training or as part of a recruitment process. The tests allow you to assess which skill level you currently have in a specific area, e.g. Beginnner, Intermediate or Advanced.
What is a Test Centre?
A test centre is a supervised location that is equipped for examinations and certification testing. The test centre needs authorisation from the Certification Sponsor or authority overseeing the examination.
