NHS 24 - rapid authoring and learner management

NHS 24 is the Scotland-wide telephone based service offering clinical assessment by healthcare professionals, as well as providing health advice and information.  It is comparable to NHS Direct in England and Wales. NHS 24 had a requirement to replace their existing LMS with a more stable system that would allow staff to access a variety of learning material when and where it was convenient for them.   Due to the 24/7 service that NHS 24 provides, all staff needed to have access to the LMS from any internet-enabled PC (including non-work locations). They chose the EnlightKS LMS because it offered outstanding performance in all the areas of functionality that were required, so with very little customisation we were able to implement a stable, robust and user-friendly solution in a short period of time.  Also, since NHS24 were already intensive users of our content authoring software they were also able to benefit from common maintenance, support and training across content development and delivery.

Hammersmith and Fulham - a new PAS system

EnlightKS were chosen to support the upgrade of their RIO Patient Administration System. With over 30 sites and the changes for many being relatively small, it was deemed too costly and impractical to interrupt operational activities with more system training. However it was imperative that training was provided. Hammersmith and Fulham utilised EnlightKS’s application support tool KShelper to provide "Just in Time" training to end users in the live environment. System users would be automatically prompted about the new RIO functionality on accessing the relevant area of the system and provided with a bite-sized training intervention that enabled them to complete the required task. This allowed user to learn on the job ensuring that the operational impact of upgrade was minimal whilst significantly reducing the time and cost of staff training.

Dudley Group of Hospitals - bespoke "virtual learning centre"

The Dudley Group of Hospitals NHS Trust (DGoH) provides a wide range of medical, surgical and rehabilitation services. DGoH wanted to create a virtual learning centre that would eliminate all possible barriers to entry: a system so simple to access and navigate, that the learner could focus all his or her efforts on the learning content itself. Our solution was a unique learning space in which the learner was free to explore all the available resources.  We used a building metaphor that enabled a highly creative approach to the imagery used, whilst also providing a naturally intuitive interface in which aspects of the building, entrance lobby, lifts, floors and rooms represented different aspects of the learning process.

Shropshire and Telford - cost efficient soft skills training

EnlightKS' rapid authoring tools were used to develop courses covering mental health, child care and vulnerable adults.  Additionaly, the same tools were also used to create lessons for internal purposes such as "how to do performance reviews". As well as using the content on the NLMS , the content was also published to CD for stand alone use.
